Nobody Grades Your Homework

Here is the thing about trading that almost nobody mentions.

There is no teacher. No boss. No performance review.

You set a rule. Then you either follow it or you do not. And the market pays you or charges you within minutes.

No do-overs. No extensions. No "I will make it up next week."

Which is brutal at first, and then becomes the most valuable part of the whole thing.

Because the number one predictor of who does well at this is not intelligence. We have watched very smart people struggle and perfectly ordinary people do beautifully.

It is self integrity. Doing the thing you said you would do when there is nobody around to check.

I learned my version of that the hard way. Two paper routes from 2:30am to 6am, then a 9 to 5, then night school for IT.

Nobody was watching. The alarm still went off at 2:15.

Trading builds the same muscle, except it hands you the feedback that same morning instead of ten years later.

You come for the pips. You leave a more disciplined person. That part is free.
